- Appoint a Group Leader – Designate a responsible adult (teacher, parent, or volunteer) to lead the school’s orienteering group. The Active Schools Coordinator may assist with volunteer recruitment.
- Train Your Team – Begin training in the playground before progressing to forest events by April. The league is mainly for P5-S2 students, with courses available for different skill levels.
- Pre-Enter Teams – Schools must register in advance to ensure adequate maps and SI equipment; no entries will be accepted on the event day
- Arrange Transport & Risk Assessment – Schools must complete EVOLVE forms and risk assessments before attending. Orienteering is considered an adventurous activity, requiring approval from Outdoor Education and school EVC. Events follow British Orienteering Federation guidelines but require individual school risk assessments.
